In 2024 Armand Duplantis and Jakob Ingebrigtsen set world records in the Silesian Stadium. - Everyone wants to break new ground – both of them say now. On September 16th, 2025, both can be seen at the Polish Diamond League meeting. Family VIP tickets to the event can be won in a special holiday competition.
Both are legends of the sport, Olympic champions and world record holders. At the same time, they are hungry for more. The Scandinavian kings of the stadiums, Armand Duplantis and Jakob Ingebrigtsen, are coming back to the Silesia Kamila Skolimowska Memorial in 2025.
The last time they competed in the Diamond League in the Silesian Stadium, their achievements went down in history of the sport. According to World Athletics' rankings, the event was not only the best meeting in the world in 2024, but also the best one-day athletics competition ever! The Swede and the Norwegian set world records in their respective events in front of a crowd of 42 thousand.
Duplantis' flight over the bar set at 6.26 was a fitting closure to a fantastic season by the 25-year old. It was his last vault at this level in 2024.
– The summer was a great one for me, I achieved everything I dreamed of. But this is not the end. I still can and want to set new goals for myself. The chance to achieve them in places such as the Silesian Stadium is a privilege. It is incredible – stated arguably the most recognisable athlete in the world at the moment.
Ingebrigtsen, who will compete in Silesia for the third consecutive year, will make his third record attempt. In 2023, it was the European record at 1500 metres, which he broke by some margin. Last time, the Norwegian took aim at the world 3000 metres record, which was considered untouchable by many. It lasted for 28 years. Jakob obliterated it, finishing in 7:17.55.
- This is the most beautiful thing: to do something that seemed impossible. I think Ingebrigtsen's fame became immortal thanks to that run. But I also believe he feels he still has a few goals he wants to tick off. He himself said he has only reached the third step out of the ten he planned for himself – former World Championships medalist Marcin Lewandowski said with a wink. He was the man to literally save Jakob's record attempt last year, when he delivered a spare pair of spikes to the Norwegian, after the 24-year old tore the previous one in training before the event.
„Jakob, which record do you want to attack here in 2025” - that was a question asked by a journalist in August of 2025.
- I cannot wait to run the 1500 metres again in Poland – the Norwegian stated now. This confirms a request he made in private talks with the organisers the last time he was leaving Silesia. - The event is on the World Championships programme. My appearance at the Skolimowska Memorial is one of the most important steps in my preparation for the competition in Tokyo – Jakob added.
Obviously, his main goal for 2025 – winning the World Championships title – is shared by Duplantis. In his case, it is about the pole vault.
– The last season showed that one month before the main event is a time to be in great shape. And if that is true, anything is possible with these two men – said Piotr Małachowski, sports director of the meeting.
Men's pole vault and 1500 metres are only two of the highlights of the Diamond League in Poland. Also coming up in August are the women's 100 metres featuring Ewa Swoboda and the 400 metres with Natalia Bukowiecka. The long list of events includes the women's 200m, 1500m, 100m hurdles, 400m hurdles, long jump and hammer throw, as well as the men's 100m, 400m hurdles, high jump, shot put, javelin throw and hammer throw.
